Monroe County Crash Claims Life of Florida Motorcyclist, Leaves Two Seriously Injured

Troy S. Wheatcraft, a 59-year-old Florida motorcycle rider, died in a horrific accident in Monroe County, Michigan, leaving two other people critically injured. The Detroit News reports that the crash happened on Tuesday at 6:04 p.m. when Wheatcraft was traveling north on Telegraph Road close to Mall Road in Frenchtown Township.

Authorities say that when Mikalah Yeske, 18, of Dundee, collided with Wheatcraft’s motorbike, she was trying to turn east into a Walmart parking lot in her 2017 Chevrolet Trax. The airbags in their car deployed when they collided, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Yeske and her passenger, Newport resident Rebecca Yeske, 48, were both buckled up.

Without a helmet on, Wheatcraft was thrown from his motorcycle and later declared deceased at a nearby hospital. Authorities affirmed that neither speed nor drunkenness seemed to have played a role in the collision. However, the matter is still being investigated, and they are pleading with anyone who knows anything to come forward.

The Yeskes were taken to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital after the incident, where their condition was last listed as serious. When describing the aftermath, FOX 2 Detroit stated that Yeske’s automobile overturned and came to rest on its roof, highlighting the seriousness of the collision.
