Here! Fatal Shooting in Northwest Miami-Dade Leaves One Dead, Two Injured; Argument Near Strip Center

Authorities in Northwest Miami-Dade reported three shootings, including a fatal one, on Friday afternoon.

First responders received reports of gunfire at approximately 1 p.m. from a location approximately one mile east of Doral, near the West Airport Shopping Centre at 7367 NW 36th St., according to police.

Two patients were transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital—one by ambulance and one by helicopter—according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, as reported by the Miami Herald. Fire rescue officials also stated that another individual received on-site treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesperson for Miami-Dade County, Detective Andre Martin, stated that an argument was the catalyst for the shooting.

People began to flee as soon as the gunfire began. An individual’s body was discovered at the location, according to Martin.

Martin stated that no arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon, but that five individuals with “various degrees of involvement” in the shooting had been taken into custody thus far.

Following the event, a reporter from the Miami Herald observed the detention of one juvenile outside of Dios Con Nosotros, a DCN church in Doral.

In a statement made at approximately 1:10 p.m., Yalitza Hernandez, manager of Zerpa’s Antojos Criollos at 4015 NW 79th Ave., claimed to have witnessed the incident go down on camera.

Near DCN Church, on the same plaza, you’ll find the bakery.

Police detained a man when three males approached him, according to Hernandez.

She informed the authorities that three young males had reported the incident. “The young man seated down, however, informed the police that the three youths had attempted to rob him.”

Three young males were caught for allegedly attempting to rob the man’s mother, according to his mother.

Guests at the La Quinta Inn adjacent to the mall, Michael Dodd of Long Island, New York, were taken aback by the sight of yellow tape and flashing police lights as they left the hotel for coffee at the McDonald’s across the street.

His excuse? “I came from down there to go to the McDonald’s,” he asserted. “I looked down and saw every police car.”
