According to New Orleans police, a driver lost control of their car, resulting in a crash that claimed one life and caused another four vehicles to collide.
The reason behind the driver’s sudden switch from the left to the right lane in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 at approximately 1:43 p.m. on Wednesday remains unknown to the police.
The driver spun out of control and into oncoming traffic on the westbound lanes of Interstate 610, where it was struck by a third vehicle.
The driver had first collided with another vehicle in that right travel lane. Although they did not say how New Orleans police reported that a fourth car was also involved in this collision.

After being transported to a hospital by New Orleans Emergency Medical Services, the driver was declared dead. The name, age, and gender of the driver killed in the crash have not yet been made public by the New Orleans coroner.
During rush hour, the I-10 interchange at the Jefferson Parish line was closed by New Orleans police to conduct an investigation, causing traffic to slow down throughout the city.
