Gunfire broke out at a sizable gathering of young people in Methuen, Massachusetts, on Sunday, wounding seven people and injuring an eighth as they fled.
At a press conference, officials stated that hundreds of people had gathered for a pop-up party planned on social media when the gunshots started just before two in the morning. According to police, the victims’ ages range from 17 to 22 years old. There were two that were critically ill.
“This morning, we are united by yet another heartbreaking instance of gun violence,” stated Paul Tucker, the district attorney for Essex County. “It’s pretty amazing that with the amount of ballistics evidence that we’re recovering more people weren’t hurt.” Methuen is situated on the New Hampshire border, some 28 miles north of Boston.

A pop-up party in Methuen, Massachusetts was the scene of a Sunday morning gunshot that left eight people injured.
Regarding the number of suspects, the authorities remained silent. No firearms have been found, and no one has been arrested.
Authorities have been keeping an eye on other “hot spots” where these types of events usually occur, according to Methuen Police Chief Scott McNamara. However, Sunday’s attack was the first to turn violent and occurred in a new location.
“Usually these meet-ups consist of very loud music, disorderly conduct, sometimes drinking,” he stated. “We’ve been reasonably successful in discouraging it by taking action when we can. Regretfully, a horrible tragedy occurred here in Metheun last night.”Methuen
