Multiple Victims in Splash Pad Park Shooting, Suspect Killed Police

According to police, a shooter opened fire at a splash pad park in Michigan on Saturday afternoon, wounding nine individuals, including two children.

The suspect was discovered dead following the shooting on Saturday night next to the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills, roughly 25 miles north of Detroit, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s office.

According to Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, the 42-year-old suspect was discovered dead at the house he and his mother shared.

Reporters were informed by Bouchard that the shooting seemed random based on the preliminary information. According to Bouchard, the suspect got out of a car, started shooting on the splash pad, reloaded, started shooting again, and drove off.

The sheriff claimed that the suspect had fired 28 shots.

Nine people were shot, according to Bouchard, two of whom were boys from the same family. The sheriff stated that an 8-year-old youngster who had been hit in the head was in critical condition. He claimed that a 4-year-old youngster who had been hit in the thigh was in stable condition.

The sheriff stated that their mother, 39, had injuries to her legs and abdomen and was in critical condition.

Six more were hurt, and according to law enforcement, their conditions were stable.

At 5:11 p.m. on Saturday, a sergeant watching a live 911 feed received the initial call, according to authorities. Within two minutes, police arrived on the site, but the culprit had already left, according to Bouchard.

Three magazines and a semiautomatic handgun were found at the site, according to the officers. He claimed that in the suspect’s residence, an AR-15-style firearm was discovered on a table.

“When I heard of the shooting in Rochester Hills, my heart broke. Governor Gretchen Whitmer stated on X that “we are keeping an eye on the situation as more information comes in and are in contact with local officials.”
