Violent Attack and Robbery on CTA Train Leads to Charges Against Six, Including 11-Year-Old Girl

Chicago, USA –

A violent fight occurred last week aboard a CTA train in the Loop, and four adolescents, including an 18-year-old lady, an 11-year-old girl, and another juvenile are all facing charges.

Something went wrong on the Orange Line on July 8. Authorities said that a gang of at least ten juveniles approached the male victim, got into a physical fight with him, and then physically stole his debit card.

During the day on Monday, police in the 1700 block of South State Street apprehended a juvenile male. His criminal charges included aggravated violence on a victim 60 or older and robbery of a victim 60 or older.

On Tuesday, in the 7000 block of South Cottage Avenue, two females, aged 11 and 15, and two boys, aged 14 and 16, were taken into custody.

In addition to aggravated violence, each of them was accused of felony robbery involving a victim 60 or older.

A man who is 63 years old was assaulted by a gang of over a dozen youths on Monday night while riding the Orange Line train in downtown Chicago, according to him, who spoke to FOX 32.

The 1700 block of South State Street was the site of Wednesday’s arrest of 18-year-old Chicagoan Tamia Washington. Her criminal history includes one felony case of robbery involving a victim aged 60 or over.

A man who is 63 years old was assaulted by a gang of over a dozen youths on Monday night while riding the Orange Line train in downtown Chicago, according to him, who spoke to FOX 32.

A lifelong Chicagoan named Michael Manning was allegedly targeted by the gang as he was alone after a 12-hour job and anticipating his return home.

This seemed like a dream. To be honest, I was just taken aback. “I felt like I went numb,” Manning admitted.

At the LaSalle/Van Buren stop, he said, the party got on the train just after 11 p.m.

“I knew right away that this was not going to go well, no matter what I said or did,” Manning pointed out. My 6’4″ stature made me think it was a bad idea to stand up since I took a swift blow to the back of the head and was sent forward into the crowd. “Oh, you’re trying to start something with us!” they exclaimed. Afterward, it felt as though I was utterly dodging punches.

Michael Manning in the aftermath of the incident — supplied

Reports from Michael Manning following the incident indicate that over a dozen boys and girls were involved.

“They just pounded on me, and I knew I had to get off this car to, like, not die,” he stated.

Despite his best efforts, he was unable to egress until he reached Quincy, but the gang persisted in their attack. After taking a handful of his possessions, they abandoned him on the platform, leaving him covered in blood, before reboarding the train.

With any luck, other victims will be able to flee just like Manning did; he claims things could have been far worse.

This level of illegality, wanton disrespect, and contempt for fundamental humanity is incomprehensible to me. Manning expressed concern about the lack of checks and balances.

Along with assisting Chicago police in their search for surveillance footage of the attackers, he stated that he has no plans to take the train anytime soon. Another agency looking into the incident is the CTA.
