To put it simply, this kind of news makes most people queasy. As far as baby abandonment in the Lone Star State is concerned, Texas has had a particularly terrible summer. The abandonment of infants has been identified in several instances.
Found abandoned in dumpsters are the majority of these infants. Experiencing this is devastating and painful. What is the reason for the unexpectedly high number of abandoned newborns in Texas this summer?
Investigations on the Leaving of Babies in Trash in Texas
No region of the Lone Star State is untouched by this phenomenon. Parents have been known to leave their newborn children in hospitals from Lubbock to Houston. I don’t understand why this is happening so frequently or why somebody would be so wicked as to harm a newborn.
Several incidents garnered attention throughout the state in July. Supposedly, a dad in Pasadena, Texas, said he no longer wanted to be a parent to his little daughter.
Disposing of her in a dumpster was his decision. Authorities in Lubbock are still trying to track down the mother of a newborn who was discovered in a trash can.
An 18-year-old Houston mother gave birth in a parking lot, placed the infant in a garbage bag, and then tossed it in a dumpster.

In June, another Houston mother—this one 28 years old—left her preterm baby alone. Furthermore, a Houston food truck worker gave birth and then tossed the newborn into a dumpster before returning to her job.
Vital Reasons Why Texas Needs a Safe Haven Law
An individual can legally relinquish custody of a kid in Texas if they are determined to be unable to provide adequate care for the child. No child should ever have to go through what these kids have in the past month, which is why the Safe Haven Law was enacted.
The Safe Haven Law, often known as the Baby Moses Law, allows parents to entrust the care of their child to individuals employed by specific Safe Havens. Stations providing emergency medical services, hospitals, firehouses, and freestanding emergency clinics are part of the Safe Haven network.
The authorities will not prosecute you for abandonment or negligence if you entrust a staff at one of these establishments with your healthy infant. One must remember a few points, though:
As long as the infant is healthy and under 60 days old, it can be considered safe.
Any Texas hospital, fire station, or EMT station will be able to take the infant under their care.
Before you can leave your infant at a Safe Haven, you must notify staff.
The medical history of you and your family members must be ready to be provided before the infant can receive any treatment.
