Authorities have stated that they are looking into the shooting death of a guy who was discovered near the Southeast Anacostia Park Roller Skating Pavilion on July 4th.
In the 1500 block of Anacostia Dr. SE, someone alerted the United States Park Police to a shooting incident at approximately 8:45 p.m.
News reports indicate that 46-year-old Donald Hawkins of Southeast was discovered near the park with several gunshot wounds, as per the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
There he passed away.
No one has been taken into custody just yet, and the reason for the shooting is yet unknown. The police are asking anyone who may know about the incident to contact them so they can help with the investigation.
