(MJP) — Charlotte, North Carolina
According to authorities, a line worker from Duke Energy was electrocuted at a Charlotte construction site on Wednesday afternoon. A state investigator arrived at the scene on Thursday.
The worker’s age was listed as 25 in the police report.
The state’s Occupational Safety and Health Division is also investigating the worker’s death, and Duke Energy is also conducting its probe.
Seeing a worker next door on Wednesday didn’t surprise Latanyia Ledbetter. According to her, a house has been under construction along Wandering Creek Drive in northwest Charlotte for the past few months.
“Right beside us, on the lot, getting ready to work, getting his tools out,” Ledbetter remarked.
As she and her family were leaving, she noticed the Duke Energy lineman; but, upon their return home not long after that, everything had changed.

A house in northwest Charlotte was the site of the electrocution. As soon as Ledbetter turned onto the street, she was taken aback and wondered what was happening.
A growing number of police officers were visible to her.
Everything was in a state of disarray,
Her camera began rolling as she drew nearer to her home. The worker she had seen earlier had reportedly been electrocuted, but she didn’t find out about it until afterward.
He had a family, I knew that. “I’m still trying to deal with it,” Ledbetter remarked, her voice damp with emotion. He was merely an ordinary man going about his business; I despise that this happened to someone I didn’t know.
At the location where the worker was allegedly killed, flowers have been left by the transformer box by concerned neighbors.
Man wanted in connection with a weekend homicide may have led a pursuit from Salisbury to Charlotte, according to police. While authorities work to determine what happened, the community grieves the loss of a young man.
You know he was just a man doing his job; I’m still hurting for him, Ledbetter stated after seeing him work.
The name of the deceased worker has not been published by officials.
Duke Energy issued a statement expressing their condolences to the family and coworkers of the deceased employee. “Privacy is requested for the family at this time while we investigate the incident to learn more.”
