Located in the heart of Missouri is Kansas City – After allegedly shooting and killing his adoptive parent, the 18-year-old defendant—later named Carter—was detained and charged with numerous offenses, including first-degree murder and armed criminal activity, according to police officials.
John, a 41-year-old victim, was mortally wounded from a gunshot wound to the head and declared dead at the spot.
Shortly after reporting that he had shot his parent in the head, the 911 caller initiated the inquiry. While the 18-year-old refused to provide his exact whereabouts to the operator, they were able to pinpoint the scene of the gunshot and the victim. Responding cops arrived at the scene a few minutes after the 911 call and encountered two yelling ladies in the driveway.
Within the home was discovered the lifeless body of the killer. After suffering a gunshot wound to the head, the victim was declared dead at the scene of the crime.

The victim’s wife—who happens to be the adoptive mother of the shooter—told the responding officers that she was sound asleep when the gunshots woke her up. As she made her way downstairs, the wife saw that her husband had been shot. After that, her son allegedly informed her that “he had to do it” before handing her the shooting gun.
About a block away from the site of the incident, the 18-year-old gunman was apprehended. People have taken him into custody and are holding him without bond.
Official documents show that the district attorney’s office filed charges and the gunman pleaded not guilty. The man who had adopted the defendant was murdered, according to a statement written by the prosecution.
