KANSAS CITY, Mo. (MJP) –
A Bonner Springs man is behind Kansas City bars after he attacked a retired police sergeant while under the influence of alcohol.
Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records indicate that on Thursday, Oct. 17, Demetrius Foster, 51, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, was charged in connection with the attack of a retired Overland Park Police Sergeant.
The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department says that just before 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, law enforcement officials were called to an undisclosed intersection with reports of a disturbance. When they arrived, they found Foster in handcuffs.
The retired Sgt. reported he had been working as a security supervisor at a building in the area when he heard sirens arrive nearby. When he went outside to check, he saw Foster talking to himself in the middle of the street.
As Foster approached the retired Sgt. and two other individuals, he was caught on footage offering them a litany of free drugs as he claimed to be a dealer.

He then threatened to kill them multiple times as he punched the security supervisor in the face. The impact caused his glasses to hit the side of his nose.

Law enforcement officials indicated that the retired Sgt. and another individual were able to bring Foster to the ground and detain him until their arrival.
When interviewed, Foster did not deny the series of events but did say he could not remember them. He also admitted he had been under the influence of alcohol at the time.
As of Monday, Foster remains behind Jackson County bars on a $10,000 bond.
