Ohio State Robbery and Shooting Police Release Video, Suspect Remains at Large

Columbus, Ohio –

Police in Columbus, Ohio, are searching for a gunman who committed a robbery earlier this month close to the Ohio State University campus.

Just before 2 a.m. on July 7, a heist took place at the Gateway Plaza in the University District, which is located in the 1500 block of North High Street.

An 18-year-old man named Skyler Steward was taken into custody; his court appearance was scheduled for Friday, according to records; his accomplice, who was not named, ran away and is still missing.

Two counts of aggravated robbery, two acts of robbery, and one case of felonious assault were among the numerous felonies against Steward.

The victim said he woke up at a table in the plaza and discovered that someone had stolen his backpack. He saw two criminals fleeing the scene and pursued them. One of them walked over to him, raised a rifle, and shot him in the foot, left side.

There was a video recording of the robbery and subsequent gunshots because they occurred close to Ohio State’s campus. Steward was apprehended close to the crime scene, in the area around the 1300 block of North High Street, whose attire was recognized on the tape. The man told the Columbus police that he was a thief but denied being the gunman.
