Fans are unhappy with the replacement after a prominent hotel and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, finally closes its doors after 34 years.
People living in Las Vegas aren’t too thrilled about the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino that will be constructed atop the remnants of the iconic Mirage Hotel.
The world-famous Mirage Hotel and Casino will close its doors this Wednesday. Demolish the 3,000-room hotel and replace it with one of Hard Rock’s famous guitar-shaped structures.
On Tuesday night, the world’s most iconic volcano took its final breath, leaving inhabitants with mixed emotions.
On video of the last eruption, Edgar Tuttle stated, “It’s sad to see Vegas destroying everything that made Vegas, Vegas.”

I couldn’t agree with another viewer more; it’s heartbreaking to watch a piece of Las Vegas disappear. Unfortunately, not everyone was pleased that Hard Rock was the acquiring business.
“Choice was abysmal…”A gigantic guitar atop a volcano? Who would have thought? “What on earth was the owner thinking?” wrote another Facebook user.
The Hard Rock is making an effort to establish itself as a strip mainstay for the second time around.
The hotel and casino that the business had owned in the city shut down in 2020 and was renamed Virgin Hotels by Las Vegas.
An observer from the neighborhood wondered, “Why demolish the stunning Mirage and then build a second Hard Rock hotel?” about the first Hard Rock hotel.
Historic and current hotel staff members alike gathered on Monday to honor the establishment’s 75th anniversary.
At the base of the volcano, dozens of cocktail waitresses from the Mirage gathered for one last photo op before they left the hotel.
“It crushed my heart, you know that it does, it crushed my heart. For Tonia Rocheleau, a cocktail server at the Mirage since 1998, the story is “history in Las Vegas,” she told the local ABC affiliate KTNV.

In a deal valued at over $1.1 billion, Hard Rock International acquired the Mirage from MGM Resorts in December 2022.
Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International, expressed gratitude to the Las Vegas city and team members for their warm reception of Hard Rock following 34 years at The Mirage.
“The Mirage eagerly anticipates the start of a thrilling adventure into a new era as Hard Rock Las Vegas will light up the Strip with entertainment, innovation, and world-class hospitality,” the hotel shared on Facebook.
