Human Trafficking Ring Exposed in Metro Detroit: Seven Accused, Three Arraigned on Several Charges

Accusations have been made against seven people and three have been tried for their roles in a human trafficking ring in Metro Detroit.

There was an arraignment in Shelby Township District Court on Wednesday evening for Chun Jin, Chengai Jin, and Zhanghuan Peng. Their bond was set at $100,000 cash.

The Probable Cause Hearings for all three of them are set for June 12 at 9 a.m. in Shelby District Court. Starting in February, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department looked into the human trafficking ring.

On May 29, search warrants were carried out by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, the Shelby Township Police Department, the Sterling Heights Police Department, the U.S. Border Patrol, and the FBI at 25 Health Spa in Shelby Township, Healing Spa in Sterling Heights, a Macomb Township home, and a Shelby Township home.

Six people were taken by the U.S. Border Patrol for breaking immigration laws. Seven people were held by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department.

Jorge Ruiz-Diaz, 22, of Utica, was charged with having less than 25 grams of a controlled drug, which is a misdemeanor that can get you four years in jail.

A Utica man named Yeong Sil Kim, 63 was charged with disorderly person-loitering at House of Ill Fame and accosting and soliciting prostitutes. The first offense is a 93-day misdemeanor and the second is a 90-day misdemeanor.

Chun Jin, age 48, of Macomb is charged with multiple offenses including Prostitution/pandering, a 20-year felony; Aiding and abetting, a 93-day misdemeanor and Disorderly person-loitering at house of Ill Fame, a 90-day misdemeanor

Chengai Jin, age 54 of Macomb, and the spouse of Chun Jin is also charged with the same offences as that of Chun Jin.

Zhanghuan Peng, 50, of Utica, was charged with:

  • Transporting a person for prostitution, a 20-year felony
  • Prostitution/accepting earnings, a 20-year felony
  • Keeping a house of prostitution, a five-year felony
  • Conspiracy to commit prostitution/keeping a house of prostitution, a five-year felony
  • Aiding and abetting, a 93-day misdemeanor

Jie Liang, 61, of Eastpointe was charged with Keeping a House of Prostitution, which is a crime that can get you five years in prison. Lin Jun Zhou, 49, of Utica was charged with Assaulting and Soliciting Prostitution, which is a misdemeanor that can get you 93 days in jail.
