California is currently seeing a new wave of large-scale layoffs as an increasing number of businesses have filed WARN warnings informing of impending job losses.
Keep in mind that sixty days before plant closures or mass layoffs, firms are required to give workers and government officials notice under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN).
Employees are guaranteed a minimum amount of time under this federal statute to look for other jobs or ways to reskill.
Just recently, the California Employment Development Department has received multiple WARN notifications.
Hundreds of jobs were to be eliminated in Los Angeles, California, as Paramount Global just stated.
On October 12, the entertainment company announced that 288 workers would be let off. Its US staff will be reduced by about 15% as a result of this.
Still, many California companies are laying off workers, Paramount included.
