Breaking News: Fatal Wrong-Way Crash in New City Leaves Teens Seriously Injured!

Around 9:15 p.m., officers responded to a serious crash near the intersection of Route 304 and Second Street in New City.

Early investigations show that a 35-year-old man from Ohio was driving a black 2010 Hyundai sedan in the wrong direction.

He was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when he crashed head-on into a 2013 silver BMW. The BMW was carrying an 18-year-old male driver and a 16-year-old female passenger.

The crash’s impact sent the Hyundai into the center of the road, while the BMW swerved off the southbound lanes onto the shoulder.

Firefighters from the New City Fire Department worked hard to remove the trapped victims from the wreckage. Medical teams, including Clarkstown Police, New City Ambulance, Nanuet Community Ambulance Corps, and Rockland Paramedics, were quick to provide help.

The two teens in the BMW suffered serious injuries and were rushed to Westchester Medical Center. Sadly, the driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released his name yet, as they are waiting to notify his family.

The Clarkstown Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the crash. They are asking anyone who may have seen the incident or has any information to reach out to the Clarkstown Police Detective Bureau at (845) 639-5800.

“We express our deepest condolences to the families involved, especially during this difficult time of year,” said police in a statement.
