Big Lots once reigned as one of the nation’s most popular retail chains, but the difficult times continue as the company announced plans for the closure of 19 more locations.
This news comes on the heels of a major announcement in September that the company had declared bankruptcy and had plans to sell the business to Nexus Capital Management, a major private equity firm.
Originally, Big Lots had announced a plan to close 315 locations nationwide, but now this additional 19 stores that will be closed will add to that significant number.
These closures will target nine states with California slated to take the biggest hit with five more additional stores being shuttered. Texas and Oregon will lose three more stores each.
The five California locations that will be shut down according to Fast Company are:

- 25260 Madison Avenue, Murrieta
- 1815 West Slauson Avenue, Los Angeles
- 1675 Hillman Street, Tulare
- 1207 Aviation Boulevard, Redondo Beach
The other five states with announced closures include Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Nevada, and Washington.
