Three individuals face charges for reportedly vandalizing a camper by throwing a brick through its window and attempting to ignite it.
Deputies from the Washington County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) promptly attended to a residence on Clarks Creek Road on May 3rd. The victim reported to investigators that his camper had been damaged by fire the previous night.
The WCSO has reported that the window of the camper was broken and the mini blinds inside were charred. Inside the camper, a surprising discovery was made – a brick hidden in a grocery bag, accompanied by a partially burned deck of cards and a bottle of isopropyl alcohol.
The sheriff’s office has provided a list of individuals who have been apprehended:
Arson charges filed against 21-year-old Ian Barnes from Johnson City
Danielle Payne, a 23-year-old resident of Johnson City, has been charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.
Madison Williams, a 23-year-old resident of Jonesborough, has been charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.
Williams sent a message to a friend of the victim in the early hours of May 3, alerting them about the fire in the camper. The victim was later informed about the incident.
According to reports, deputies spoke with Williams, who claimed that she had driven Barnes and Payne to the camper on the night of May 2 with the intention of vandalizing it.
Williams and Payne both claimed to have a past relationship with the victim.
As per a news release from the WCSO, Barnes damaged the tires on the camper and the victim’s vehicle, and then proceeded to throw a brick through the window. All three individuals reportedly visited a convenience store to purchase a bottle of isopropyl alcohol and a lighter.
According to the sheriff’s office, the trio’s attempt to ignite the bag and bottle of alcohol resulted in only the blinds catching fire.
All the suspects have been apprehended and taken to the Washington County Detention Center. Barnes posted a bond of $10,000, while Payne and Williams each posted bonds of $2,500. The trial in the case is set to begin on June 26th.
