by Englewood, NJ — A Jersey City police sergeant and former New Jersey political candidate has been arrested in connection with a case involving allegations of unlawful conduct with a minor, according to authorities in Bergen County.
Sergeant Arrested Following Joint Investigation
Officials confirmed that 44-year-old Andrew LaBruno was taken into custody on Monday after a coordinated investigation by the Englewood Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. Investigators allege LaBruno communicated with a juvenile using a social media platform and arranged an in-person meeting at the minor’s residence.
Authorities say the juvenile was home alone at the time of the encounter, during which the alleged conduct occurred.

Prosecutors report that LaBruno used a substance in a way that they believe was intended to impair the minor’s ability to respond.
