Only months before the horrific murder, a man with a violent past who is suspected of pushing his mother to death in a Manhattan park was sent away for therapy, according to individuals who spoke to The Post.
According to law enforcement sources, beautician Vianel Garcia, 44, was brutally beaten by 22-year-old Miguel Duval with a stick and a rock after she fell to the bottom of an embankment in Riverside Park.
Miguel had issues. Like every mother attempting to aid her son, she was trying to assist him. He appeared to have mental health issues, but I’m not a doctor or anything. A neighbor of Garcia’s East Harlem beauty parlor told The Post, “People say schizophrenia, but I really can’t say.”
Authorities claim that after a verbal argument grew violent, Duval killed his mother.
According to people who spoke to The Post, he pushed her down the hill and then fatally beat her with a rock and stick.
California rapper Tan DaGod was shot and killed during the launch of a beauty boutique after posting a meet-and-greet on social media.
“He was an excellent child who grew up here. However, he changed about the age of 18. He turned strange. At that age, the neighbor, who wished to remain nameless, suggested that he might have been taking medication and decided, “I don’t need this s–t.”
The neighbor claimed that Garcia moved her kid, who was acting out, to the Dominican Republic to receive treatment. After an issue occurred, he was returned to New York, where he allegedly carried on making mischief, according to those in the know.

Sources claim that he was arrested last month for allegedly kicking someone in the head.
It appears that at the time of the murder, Duval was residing at a men’s shelter in Washington Heights.
“He looked completely different when he returned. After he cut his hair and gained a lot of weight, I asked him, “What happened to you? You seemed to go from night to day.” I decided not to meddle with this person again when he said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” as if he was about to hit me. I won’t stop you, and neither will you stop me. I didn’t talk to him again after that,” the neighbor recalled.
According to a neighbor, Garcia had previously called the police on her sole child out of four.
Although the murder was horrifying, some people told The Post that the killer wasn’t as shocking.
“When I was initially informed this morning, I believed it to be Garcia’s mother. “And then I realized it was her, and then I realized what had happened, and I was like, ‘Whoa,'” exclaimed 34-year-old neighbor Noel Bermudez.
I was taken aback. I had nothing to say. All of them, the entire block long, were. For hair services, everyone in the neighborhood came here. Miguel and I never got along, but he had his problems.
On Monday, a large group of mourners crowded Garcia’s East Harlem home.
A few blocks away, outside the Vianel Beauty Salon, which she had owned for many years and developed a sizable clientele, a shrine made of flowers and candles was set up. One of her regular customers sobbed when she learned of the salon’s closure on Monday.
Many neighbors disclosed to The Post that Duval had a past filled with mental health problems.
Katiria Mojica, 45, stated, “I don’t know exactly what happened with her son, but she asked for help with the police department because he was struggling with mental illnesses.”
The family is wonderful. We should surely pray for the family because she has been seen doing people’s hair all around this community. She was a kind, giving, and helpful individual.
We simply need to remember to pray for her and her son. She would ask that we also offer prayers for her son. Her son loved her, and she loved him back. This child is not bad. He had no intention of killing her. It’s tragic. I’m just quite angry right now.
Second-degree murder is the charge against Duval, according to the police.
