At one of its biggest locations in South Carolina, a massive company is currently planning to lay off hundreds of workers by the end of the month.
On July 27, 206 workers at Charter Communications’ Greer site would lose their jobs. Charter Communications provides spectrum services.
Effective July 27, employees at Charter’s 1511 S. Batesville Road location will be affected by layoffs.
A representative for the company claimed that Charter had previously announced it was terminating 74 workers from the same location as part of its “new, streamlined approach to some back office and management support functions.”
“No impact on the local technicians who install our Spectrum products, make service calls, or who build, maintain, and upgrade our local networks,” the representative continued.

The nationwide telecom behemoth has recently filed multiple public notices of planned layoffs.
Last week, CTInsider revealed that Charter intended to close five call centers—located in California, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, and Ohio—as well as a support center located in Wisconsin.
A Charter Communications official reports that the Greer layoffs were “communicated to impacted employees nearly two months ago.”
Spokesman Patti Michel continued, saying that Charter gave its workers the option to move inside the organization, and that “many are doing so.”
But Spectrum is not the only South Carolina-based business making layoffs.
The following list includes companies that are laying off employees in the state:
On July 2, 120 workers at Carolina Cotton Works’ Gaffney plant would lose their employment due to the company’s closure.
On August 25, Wells Fargo will lay off 254 employees in Columbia.
Next March, SI Group will be terminating 74 employees in Orangeburg.
Tupperware said that it would close its only production facility in the United States, which would mean 148 jobs in South Carolina would be lost.
In September, Caterpillar is closing a facility in Sumter, which means that 109 workers will lose their employment.
FedEx published a notification stating that 241 workers would be let go in September from locations in West Columbia, Myrtle Beach, and Florence.
- On May 31, T-Roc Global made 100 layoffs in South Carolina.
- On June 7, 98 employees of Logistics Support lost their jobs, according to a notice they submitted to the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce.
- A notice of upcoming job cutbacks resulting from the permanent closure of a Gaffney factory was filed by the Bic Corporation. The company plans to move its activities from the Gaffney plant, which only makes a small amount of BIC Markers, to two BIC plants located in Mexico and France. 46 workers will so lose their jobs at the end of the year as a result.
- Gentherm, the company that provides the heated seats for the car plant, declared that it was relocating the production of its products from the South Carolina plant to Mexico. 124 employees at the facility lost their employment in May as a result of the shutdown.
- At the end of the year, Stanley and Decker are also closing, which means that 192 workers will lose their employment. 179 jobs were lost when the company closed a Chesterfield location in 2023.
- On August 25, Novant Health will let go of ninety employees in Indian Land.
