The rule has an impact on a wide range of individuals, including 19-year-old Serenity Bushey. House Bill 70-63, which went into force on Monday, eliminated her employment as a dancer at Cafe Risque in Micanopy.
Accordingly, workers under the age of 21 are prohibited from working in adult entertainment establishments such as strip clubs and adult toy stores. They let eighteen-year-olds walk in there; you can’t just work there, so I don’t know why,” Bushey continued.
In their lawsuit against the state of Florida are Bushey and the owners of three adult enterprises, including Micanopy’s Cafe Risque. Employees’ First Amendment rights are allegedly violated by the new law, they claim.

The complaint claims that the new regulation has resulted in the employment loss of at least nine women under the age of 21 who perform at “cafe risque.” Governor Ron Desantis claimed that the bill would lessen human trafficking when he was endorsing it.
His logic does not sit well with Bushey.
There is no proof that the majority of those involved in human trafficking are exotic dancers, thus Bushey remarked, “The laws being made about us are honestly outrageous. I don’t see how that correlates with human trafficking.”
