Double-Double Murder! Four Killed in Separate Shootings During Violent D.C. Weekend

Police have not yet made any announcement regarding the arrests related to the four shootings that claimed four lives this past weekend in the District.

According to the Metropolitan Police, a teen was shot and killed in Northwest at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Following an officer’s response to gunfire noises in the 700 block of Missouri Avenue Northwest, Raymond Washington, 18, of Northeast, reportedly passed away in a hospital.

In connection with the homicide, police are searching for a Black guy who was last seen wearing a gray tank top, light blue trousers, black sneakers, and a black satchel bag.

On Saturday, three hours separate gunshots claimed the lives of two persons.

Michael Sturgent Morris, 45, of Northeast was discovered shot inside an Ivy City apartment around 1:30 p.m., according to MPD.

Northeast police claimed that the deceased passed away in the house located on the 1800 block of Providence Street. Searchers are searching for a black pickup truck that they believe has a guy and two women inside that may be connected to the murder.

Dionzae Foote, 29, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, was reportedly suffering from a gunshot wound in Southeast around 4:10 p.m., according to the authorities. On the 2700 block of Shipley Terrace Southeast, Mr. Foote passed away at the scene.

When the person of interest wasn’t found, MPD called off the blockade after it was thought that a suspect had taken up residence in an apartment nearby. The killing is connected to a silver vehicle.

Just after 11 p.m. on Friday night, police in Northeast reported that Jontae Donald Gilliam, 39, had been found dead from gunshot wounds in the 600 block of Morton Street Northwest. This marked the start of the weekend-long mayhem.

Regarding the incident, police have not released a description or identity of any suspects or people of interest.

Police data indicates that the number of homicides in the District this year has reached 91, which is a 24% decrease from the amount on the same date in 2023. This weekend’s killings have brought the total to 91.

The District saw the highest number of homicides since the late 1990s with 274 last year.
