A man from South Carolina was given 27 years in prison for transporting a minor from Arizona with the intent to engage in s*xual conduct.
United States District Judge Rosemary Márquez gave Timothy Mikell Schultheis, 26, of Hilton Head, South Carolina, a sentence of 27 years in jail followed by life of supervision on Tuesday. Schultheis will also have to sign up as a s*x offender.
On January 10, 2024, Schultheis admitted that he had transported a minor with the intent to do s*xual activity that was illegal.
Schultheis, whose real name is Jackson Oden, took a 12-year-old girl from Arizona to South Carolina so they could have a physical encounter. Schultheis used social media to meet and get to know the minor. He then drove from South Carolina to Safford to pick her up and take her back to his home in South Carolina.
The investigation found Facebook messages between the minor and Schultheis, who was 24 years old at the time. The child was in Schultheis’s South Carolina apartment on March 30, 2022, when he was captured.
“This sentence stops Timothy Schulthies from breaking the law again and again.” Agent in Charge of the FBI Phoenix office, Akil Davis, said, “He can no longer hurt kids or their families across the country.” “This case shows that the FBI is determined to follow the evidence wherever it leads.”
Schultheis had been arrested and released by South Carolina police for similar behavior with a different 12-year-old. At the time of this crime, he was wearing an ankle monitor. Schultheis had to plead guilty to the South Carolina charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor as part of the plea deal.
