WISCONSIN RAPIDS − A woman from Wisconsin Rapids, 24 years old, was caught on Tuesday while she was making a threat against an elementary school in Wisconsin Rapids.
According to a news statement from the police department, at 11:53 a.m. Tuesday, the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department went to Washington Elementary School to look into a threatening phone call that school staff had received. Since there was a danger, there were more police officers at the elementary school all afternoon.
The release says that Wisconsin Rapids detectives were able to find the phone that was used to make the threat and name the person who made it.
The 24-year-old woman was given a ticket and taken to the Wood County Jail. The police will ask the Wood County district attorney’s office to charge the person with swatting and making terrorist threats. Because charges have not yet been brought, the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune will not name the woman.
The investigation was helped by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
