Whitmer appoints Fowlerville man to state builders board

A Livingston County man has been appointed to a state panel by Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Troy Young, of Fowlerville, was appointed to the Michigan Residential Builders and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors Board. Young, the owner of Dollins Construction, was appointed to represent licensed residential builders, for a term commencing expiring March 31, 2027. He received his bachelor’s in construction management from Ferris State University.

The Michigan Residential Builders and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors Board was created to license and regulate persons engaged in the construction of a residential structure or combination residential and commercial structure, or persons who undertake the repair, alteration, addition, subtraction or improvement of a residential structure or combination residential and commercial structure for compensation other than wages for personal labor.

Also serving on the board is Ken Stahl of Brighton, who represents Licensed Residential Builders. Stahl is the board’s Chairman.

Young’s appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate, which is expected.
