(MJP) — GRETNA, Louisiana Tony Mandina’s Restaurant in Gretna will close in two months, but another local eatery will launch a second site in its stead.
At 1915 Pratt St., the Venezia Restaurant will have its grand opening and ribbon cutting, according to Gretna city authorities.
Tony Mandina has been serving the neighborhood for 42 years, and on June 24, the Mandina family said goodbye while thanking everyone, including their staff. On Saturday morning, the Red Dress Run begins in New Orleans.
Our hearts are heavy with sadness to inform you that Tony Mandina’s Restaurant will be closing its doors. Over the last 42 years, serving our community has been an amazing adventure. Your consistent support and patronage mean the world to us, and we will be forever thankful.

Because of your open arms, we are now a part of the special moments and recollections that you hold dear. “The Mandina family looks back on the friendships that were formed and the joy that Tony Mandina has brought to so many with fond memories,” they stated.
The Venezia will have its second site in this area. The original one is in Mid-City, and it serves real Italian food to locals and tourists alike.
Venezia Restaurant is set to open its doors at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
