U.S. defenses and support for Israel are being fortified by the deployment of additional military assets to the Middle East and neighboring regions.

Including the aircraft carrier strike group USS Abraham Lincoln and other ballistic missile-capable naval vessels, such as destroyers and cruisers.
The goals of these actions are to “improve U.S. force protection, to increase support for the defense of Israel, and to ensure the United States is prepared to respond to various contingencies,” as well as to “mitigate the possibility of regional escalation by Iran or Iran’s partners and proxies.”

This decision is a result of a phone conversation between Secretary Austin and the Israeli Defense Minister, during which Austin promised Israel further support.
