A man is hospitalized after he was hit Saturday afternoon by a vehicle on US-23 near Fenton.
The Michigan Department of Transportation said that southbound US-23 at North Road was closed due to a crash at about 3 p.m. According to Mid-Michigan NOW News, police say a man was traveling in the southbound lanes while hauling a couch. When it fell onto the roadway, he reportedly tried to remove the couch when he was struck by a vehicle. The man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
Police say alcohol and drugs were not believed to be involved. MDOT says the roadway was reopened at about 8 p.m.
