The new Summer EBT program for SNAP recipients and other eligible citizens is closing the application window soon. SUN Bucks will close the application window in New York and California shortly.
For your information, this program gives school-aged children $120 for summer meals. Most SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, or similar beneficiaries got it automatically. However, some eligible recipients are still missing out on this SUN Bucks payment.
SUN Bucks deadline in New York
The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance claims that eligible recipients can apply for their $120 check until September 3, 2024. To be eligible through an application in New York State you must:
- a student must be enrolled in a school that participates in the NSLP (National School Lunch Program),
- income in your household must be at or below the eligibility limits for free or reduced-price school meals (185% of the federal poverty level).
Those who believe are eligible but did not qualify automatically can apply for SUN Bucks or Summer EBT in New York online.
SUN Bucks deadline in California
The California Department of Social Services stated that if you do not qualify for SUN Bucks automatically, you can apply for them until August 31, 2024. Therefore, there are just 48 hours left to do so.
CDSS claims that you must submit the Alternative Income Form if you get free or reduced-price meals but are not currently receiving CalFresh (SNAP), CalWORKS, or Medi-Cal.
Meeting the income limits is also mandatory. Just like in New York, your household must be “certified at or under 185% of the Federal Poverty Level”. It does not matter if you receive your card in August or September.
Once you are eligible you will get $120 from the SUN Bucks program per child. For the upcoming SNAP payments please check it here.
