After announcing plans to close up to 40 stores, a well-known retail brand is now implementing the difficult closure of its Maryland facilities.
One location in Baltimore County is among three that Big Lots is shuttering in Maryland.
The company’s website announces the impending closure of the store located at the Reisterstown Shopping Center near Cherry Hill Road in Reisterstown.
The website states that other Big Lots locations in the Baltimore area are unaffected.
There will be store closures in southern Maryland and Laurel as well.
Last month, Big Lots announced that it would have to shutter as many as 40 stores around the country by year’s end, citing falling sales as the reason.

Here is a rundown of the three Maryland Big Lots locations that will soon be closing:

To ease customers’ transition, the company has extended discounts of up to 20% in-store.
But, faithful clients have, unsurprisingly, been angered by the news.

A Facebook user expressed her disapproval by writing, “This sucks.”
“This is sad,” another person concurred.
This has let me down. “The staff is friendly and helpful, and I find great stuff there, especially seasonal,” gushed one shopper.

Just days before they announced their closure, Big Lots confirmed that 40 of their stores will be shuttered by the end of 2024.
Pleasant Valley Road in Manchester, Turnpike Square in Milford, and Boston Post Road in Waterford are among the Connecticut roads mentioned, according to NBC.
According to the broadcaster, the retailer’s capacity to remain afloat would be “substantially doubted” if it were to fail on its 2022 loan.
Retailer lays responsibility on falling sales for branches’ impending closure.
Additional information was included in its most recent regulatory filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
It referenced “244 underperforming store locations” that Big Lots had in the first quarter of 2024.
