Upcoming Layoffs in Missouri Two Unlikely Businesses Sound the Alarm

Notices sent out by the Missouri Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification System indicate that two unexpected businesses will soon be laying off employees.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) mandates that employers with over 100 full-time employees are required to give a 60-day notice before the layoff of 50 or more individuals at a single location.

Notifications of impending layoffs were submitted by two companies to the Missouri Office of Workforce Development this week under the WARN program.

Southern Glazers has announced that on November 1st, 94 employees will be let go from their jobs in St. Charles.

The second firm is Omega Healthcare, which will be reducing its Oak Grove workforce by just two employees on September 30.

Companies in Missouri are laying off workers in droves, and it’s not just at Southern Glazers and Omega Healthcare.

The following companies will be laying off workers in Missouri in 2024:

The layoff notice for the 183 St. Louis employees was filed by Regency Enterprises Services on August 31.
The Columbia facility of brake maker Oticon will be shutting down in October, resulting in the dismissal of 158 workers.

By August, more than a hundred individuals will have lost their employment at the Cheesecake Factory, which is located in St. Louis County’s Chesterfield Mall.

Eighty people lost their jobs when Oregon Tool notified the Missouri Office of Workforce Development that its Kansas City business would be closing on August 2.

In a June 30th notice filed with the Missouri Office of Workforce Development, Cherokee Nation Federal Consulting revealed that 187 employees were laid off from their Kansas City location.

Five of the state’s locations of the illustrious food delivery company Yelloh—previously known as Schwan’s Home Delivery—have been permanently closed.
