Two area residents appointed to state panels

Two local residents have been appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to serve the state in various capacities.

Vicki Putala, of Milford, was appointed to serve on the state’s Environmental Permit Review Commission for a term expiring in August, 2026. Putala is a vice president with OHM Advisors and is a licensed professional engineer. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Michigan Tech University.

The Environmental Permit Review Commission (EPRC) was created to advise the Director of the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) on disputes related to permits and permit applications. The EPRC may advise the EGLE Director on any permit or operating license issued by EGLE under the Natural Resources Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended (NREPA) or the rules promulgated under NREPA.

Putala’s appointment is l subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

Meanwhile, Douglas McClure, a Democrat of Chelsea, was appointed to serve on the state’s Environmental Rules Review Committee for a term expiring in October, 2026.

McClure is a retired attorney who previously worked at Conlin, McKenney and Philbrick. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Political Science from the University of Illinois and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California Berkeley.

The Environmental Rules Review Committee (ERRC) was created as an independent body to oversee all rulemaking of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy.   

McClure’s appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
