A man was tragically killed on Christmas night after falling onto the subway tracks while trying to sneak a smoke between subway cars in New York City.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. near the 77th Street and Sixth Avenue station on the Upper East Side.
According to sources, the 49-year-old man was smoking when he somehow lost his balance and fell onto the tracks.
He was hit by the northbound 6 train. Emergency responders found him under the train, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene, between the 68th and 77th streets.
This tragic event caused delays in subway services as authorities worked at the scene. The police have not yet released the man’s name, as they are still notifying his family.
