We return to the Naperville area in my next review. When I discover a great place to eat breakfast, it makes my heart sing. The following spot offers huge amounts of high-quality food.
The ButterMilk in Naperville is going to be my next stop.
On a Sunday morning around nine o’clock, I made my initial attempt to eat here. The line was so long that it took more than an hour. I skipped waiting and headed across the street to Pour House for dinner instead. Later this month, I will post that review.
I went back the following Wednesday at 9 in the morning, and although it was packed, I didn’t have to wait in line. I took my place at my assigned table without delay.
After perusing the menu, I saw that many of the products were familiar from other restaurants serving similar fare, such as breakfast fare staples like biscuits and pancakes.
Based on my research, I settled on their stuffed biscuit. Sausage gravy accompanied the ham, cheese, eggs, and potatoes that were packed into the biscuit. As a side order, I requested a little pancake to sample their pancakes.

“Chicken and biscuits” was what my wife requested. It was very much like mine, with the obvious addition of chicken. I also sampled a seasonal drink—a coffee concoction in the form of an apple crisp macchiato—that they had on hand. A Coke was my wife’s order.
My wife’s water and Coke came to the table in a carafe as the first things brought to the table. She probably won’t drink all of this Coke, but I appreciate it when places do this so we don’t have to wait for refills. A clean, refreshing flavor permeated the water. That awful taste of sink water did not affect me.
The drink that was brought to the table was tasty, but I doubt I would have it again. There wasn’t much apple flavor and it was very sweet.
The time it took for our meal to come was around fifteen minutes. The amounts were so big that I assumed they were meant for another table when I saw them emerging from the back kitchen area, where our food was being prepared.
Extra eggs, peppers, onions, potatoes, and ham were served beside my stuffed biscuit entrée. It would have been plenty meal for the two of us on the side. The servings were enormous, in fact. The sight of them made us chuckle.
The eggs poured out as I sliced my biscuit and cheese ham. The ridiculously large amounts ensured that everything was of the highest quality. Without a doubt, the quality was present. Half of our plates were consumed by each of us. We were unable to eat any longer.
I would never have ordered the side pancakes if I had known the amounts were that huge. Even though they were fairly raw in the center, the pancakes had a decent flavor overall. Those pancakes would not be on my menu again.
It was the most costly breakfast I’ve ever had for two people, and we just got our bill. Two entrees, my coffee beverage, and my wife’s Coke totaled slightly over $61 (including tip). We were substantially beyond the $70 mark.
The ambiance was pleasant. So much activity was taking place that it was a bit of a blur. There is an exceptionally clean interior with all white furnishings. My best guess is that it was meant to resemble a contemporary farmhouse.
A lot of work went into the service. To be honest, I’m not sure I could justify spending over $100 on breakfast thrice a week if I lived in the area, but I promise I will be back.
Simply for the weekly specialties and creative cuisine, this is a place you must visit.
In my opinion, it’s worth 7.5 stars. You should definitely see this for yourself.
