The Seabrook Police Department said that a mother was fatally shot at her Texas apartment complex over the weekend, leaving her children helpless to intervene.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., the Teakwood Unit complex was visited by the Seabrook Fire Department, EMS, and police. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of 23-year-old Mary Jane Collins, with her two children seated inside the unit, seemingly uninjured. The authorities took care of their removal.
To confirm the suspect had departed, members of the SWAT squad ran a second search of the region. Until the area was deemed safe, residents residing in the complex were instructed to stay inside their homes and secure their doors. The next step was to search the apartment extensively.
Later that night, the region was determined to be safe. The police have stated that the investigation is continuing, but they have not yet revealed the identity of the suspect.
Reports indicate that Collins was known to the assailant. The search for the shooter is ongoing, according to the Seabrook Police Department. An SPD news statement claimed that preliminary results indicate that Mary Jane Collins knew her attacker, and the Seabrook neighborhood is not currently in danger.
In memory of the young mother, many took to Facebook. On the platform, her cousin Ashes Kashes Saenz mourned her premature death, reminiscing about how much she loved being a baby and changing her diapers.

The lives of my lovely little cousin, her boys, our family, and her friends were tragically cut short on October 4, 2024. I simply don’t believe this is happening. A tragedy that befell my loved ones 22 years ago has resurfaced. Once again, her family was unjustly targeted, and her cousin and her boys were no exception.
A Facebook friend of Collins’s, Jennifer Nowalk, paid tribute to her work ethic and resilience despite the fact that Collins had children at a young age. Rumor has it that the mother was climbing the corporate ladder and was actively seeking a position in the nursing profession.
We got back together after JR was born, and you were a model student and worker. I respected that. I respected your second opinion because you mentioned that you have a higher status in the nursing sector.
You show these youngsters the same level of love and care that you give yourself, and I respect that. You have gone to great lengths in your life to prove that you are capable of becoming an exceptional mother and wife. The chance to meet my daughter was a blessing, Nowak stated.
