An out-of-state teenager drowned over the weekend in a Milford Township lake.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Joshua David Auxier of Fountain City, Indiana, was swimming with  two friends in Sears Lake shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday.
As they tried to reach a platform about 25 feet from the shoreline, Auxier went under the water and didn’t resurface. Sears Lake is located near West Commerce and Hickory Ridge roads.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, along with the Milford Township police and Milford Township Fire Department responded to the lake where Auxier was located in about 15 feet of water.
First responders attempted CPR, but pronounced Auxier dead at the scene. The medical examiner ruled the cause of death as an accidental drowning.
