The horrific incident in north Houston on Wednesday night claimed the lives of a kid and an adolescent in minutes, according to the police.
It all started at about 8:20 p.m. when a bunch of kids were allegedly playing with a gun.
At the scene, authorities declared the youngster, who was eleven years old, dead. According to HPD, the 17-year-old who brought the gun to the home tragically took his own life in the hospital after shooting himself.
An apartment building near Hardy Street at 6869 Arto Street was where the child’s relatives were gathering, according to the police.
According to HPD, the 17-year-old brought the gun and was probably showing it off.
Authorities said the teen stashed the firearm on a bed. Afterward, a girl of fourteen years old thought it was unloaded, so she reached down and pulled the trigger. The shooting death of the eleven-year-old youngster occurred at that moment.
The teenager, according to investigators, seized the firearm and fled to a railroad track located behind the complex. It was said that his relatives attempted to console him as he was distressed.
Firearms were reportedly discharged by the juvenile. Even though one of them struck an apartment building, no one was injured. After that, he aimed the weapon at himself.
