Authorities have reported a tragic incident in Massachusetts involving the death of a teenager at the hands of her stepfather, in what appears to be a murder-suicide.
A tragic incident occurred this week, as authorities discovered the lifeless bodies of a 16-year-old girl and her stepfather, Juliano Santana, in Santana’s vehicle. The cause of death appears to be gunshot wounds, as stated in a joint statement by Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan and Acton Chief of Police James Cogan on Thursday, May 30.
Officials reported that the victim was on her way home from school when she was taken by her stepfather and tragically lost her life in a nearby parking lot. According to authorities, Santana later took his own life.
Authorities were able to track down Santana with the help of his probation officer, who used a GPS monitoring device to determine his whereabouts. This was made possible due to a pending case against Santana.
In addition to Santana’s stepdaughter, there was a report in 2021 of multiple instances of sexual assault committed by him.
During that period, Santana was taken into custody and formally charged with 6 counts of aggravated rape of a child. His bail was established at $30,000.
According to the police, certain conditions were imposed on him, including the use of a GPS monitoring device, maintaining distance from the victim, and avoiding any contact with them. Additionally, he was not allowed to have unsupervised contact with individuals under the age of 18.
Authorities have reported that Santana’s stepdaughter had an active restraining order against him.
The investigation into the deaths of Santana and his stepdaughter is still ongoing.
