Authorities are investigating whether a 37-year-old man charged with exposing himself in Washtenaw County last weekend is connected to other crimes.
Isaiah Hopkins, who is lodged in the Washtenaw County Jail on a $50,000 bond, was arrested Sunday afternoon after a woman who was walking along the Border-to-Border Trail in Dexter Township said a man “suddenly came up behind her, exposed himself and attempted to prevent her from leaving.”
After fleeing the area, the woman called 911 and provided a description of the suspect to the dispatcher. Based on that description, deputies quickly located the the suspect and took him into custody.
Authorities say that during the investigation, “information tying the suspect to several previous indecent exposure cases and Dexter area home invasions was discovered.”
The Detroit News reports that there were four attempted home break-ins overnight last Friday, June 17 on Victoria Drive in Dexter. There were also three indecent exposure incidents also were reported recently in the area.
Hopkins is charged with a single count of aggravated indecent exposure and is due back in court for a probable cause conference on June 30.
