Hurricane Milton Is About To Make Landfall
The most recent report from the National Hurricane Center places the massive storm approximately 360 miles southwest of Tampa, according to this writing.
Across a section of the west-central coast of the Florida Peninsula, a severe storm surge is anticipated, with inundations of 10 feet or more along a large area. This is a very dangerous situation; anybody in the Storm Surge Warning region should escape immediately, the NWS said.
Late Wednesday night, or early Thursday, is when Milton is predicted to make landfall. Many inhabitants are still trying to gather up the pieces left behind by Hurricane Helene, and only two weeks after that storm, Milton will have an effect.
A hurricane warning is in place for parts of Florida’s west coast, where dangerous hurricane winds are predicted. As it makes its way over the Florida Peninsula, the National Weather Service predicts that Hurricane Milton will continue to be a Category 4 storm with potentially deadly hurricane-force winds, particularly gusts, that will move inland throughout the peninsula.
There has been no reported incident involving Milton in the Empire State as of this writing. Nonetheless, some New Yorkers on the road will feel the influence of Milton.
Hurricane Milton Could Create Delays for New York-Based Travelers
On Wednesday night or early Thursday, Florida could be hit by Hurricane Milton. Storm conditions will most certainly affect flights departing from New York’s Hudson Valley and elsewhere in the state.
Palm Beach International Airport, St. Pete-Clearwater, Tampa, Orlando, Southwest Florida, Sarasota, and Bradenton are among the Florida airports that have closed their doors and grounded all flights.
