A once-loved store is now in the midst of a painful liquidation process as a means of generating cash flow from its closing sales.
For many years, Bob’s Stores has catered to the needs of shoppers in New England by stocking both bargain clothing and sportswear.
Much like countless other establishments, this cherished retailer was forced to close its doors because of the worldwide pandemic.
Just like many other stores, Bob’s Stores has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Fewer customers, less money, and too much debt have all contributed to the retailer’s downfall.
Many stores had to close, drastically cut back on clients, or operate under stringent guidelines because of the pandemic.
Bob’s Stores unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy, which led to corporate layoffs and the closure of a distribution center; nevertheless, the filing had no impact on the company’s sister store.
The company announced that as part of the Chapter 11 restructuring petition filed on June 18, 2024, Bob’s Stores will close all of its Bob’s locations and sell all inventory.
The store was unable to get the money it needed to stay open, even though it made quick and bold modifications to its structure and operations.

Claiming assets of $50 million to $100 million and liabilities of the same amount, Bob’s Stores has listed 369 creditors in its bankruptcy filing.
The closing sale at Bob’s Stores, which started on June 28, included discounts ranging from 30% to 70%.
This event is a last chance for loyal customers to save a ton of money on everything in the store, the company announced in a press statement.
“The most popular brands’ best-selling items will be on sale and go fast.”
“Before the best selection of discounted merchandise sells out, customers are encouraged to visit their nearest Bob’s location early to take full advantage of it.”
In these few hours, Bob’s Stores informed consumers that there would be no returns on any purchases and that all sales were final.
The Street states that as of July 14, all Bob’s Stores chains have formally closed their doors for good.
