Five suspects are in custody following a robbery where shots were fired Thursday night in Livingston County.
Green Oak Township Police say that at approximately 8 p.m officers responded to a report of multiple suspects who entered the Ulta Beauty store and were filling a bag with merchandise. As officers arrived, two suspects fled with the merchandise on foot and were pursued.
One suspect made it into a vehicle and was then able to drive away, but not without striking a vehicle. Shots were fired by police at the suspect vehicle; however, nobody was injured, and the vehicle was stopped in the parking lot after it struck a wall.
All five suspects were taken into custody and lodged at the Livingston County Jail awaiting arraignment for multiple charges to include Organized Retail Fraud and Felonious Assault.
The case is still being investigated by both Green Oak Township Police Department and the Michigan State Police.
The Green Oak Township Police Department was assisted by: Green Oak Township Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Livingston County Ambulance, Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Livingston County Central Dispatch, Hamburg Township Police Department, Brighton Police Department, and Metro Parks Police Authority.
Meanwhile, Michigan State Police released this statement via Twitter;
“On 01/12/23 at approx 8:10 pm Green Oak Twp PD were called to the Ulta Store at the outdoor mall, Green Oak Village Place for a retail fraud in progress. Five female suspects had entered the store and were filling bags with merchandise. Troopers from the Brighton Post responded to assist. Five female suspects fled the store with stolen property. One suspect fled on foot,others in separate vehicles. One trooper was attempting to take a suspect that ran in custody, a vehicle involved drove directly at the troop. The trooper fired his weapon at the vehicle. Vehicle was struck but not the suspect driver. Vehicle fled the scene but was stopped after colliding with a building. All suspects taken into custody. No injuries to anyone involved. Suspects lodged at the Livingston County Jail. The organized retail fraud will be investigated by the Green Oak Twp PD. The MSP 3rd District Special Investigation Section will investigate the officer involved shooting. The investigation is ongoing. The trooper involved is on administrative leave pending the investigation.”
