In New Orleans (MJP) —
Until 9 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a “Flash Flood Warning” for the parishes of St. James, Lafourche, Assumption, and St. John the Baptist.
Up until 9:15 p.m., a flood advisory was announced for the streets. Drivers should not drive in regions with low elevations since street flooding is a real possibility.
Up to 5 p.m., the surrounding areas were under a “Severe Thunderstorm Warning,” which began with the parishes of St. Tammany and Tangipahoa.
Afterward, until 7 p.m., Lafourche, St. James, Iberville, Terrebonne, Assumption, and Ascension parishes were all warned.
There were further warnings issued for Livingston, East Baton Rouge, and West Baton Rouge until 6 p.m.
Nearly 3,818 people in St. John the Baptist Parish have lost electricity as of 9 p.m., according to Entergy. Power outages have affected hundreds of consumers in Jefferson Parish.

At one point in time, 1,151 clients in Tangipahoa Parish were affected. Even more people in East Baton Rouge and Ascension did not have access to power.

The initial warning for Tangipahoa areas was extended in both time and scope until 4:30.
