San Francisco Resident Arrested for Petty Theft in Colma, Facing Extra Charges

A 36-year-old man from San Francisco named Cory Bingham has been taken into custody on suspicion of stealing a bounty of products worth around $648.48.

On Tuesday, as officers from the Colma Police Department were looking into an earlier theft, they received information of a second misdemeanor at a store on the commercial section of Junipero Serra Boulevard.

The arrest that followed was described in a statement released by the Colma Police Department.

According to reports, Bingham was apprehended by the police as he leisurely strolled around the parking lot of the Serra Center, having recently left the establishment of interest.

The store’s loss prevention officer had identified Bingham as the thief, so Colma’s finest ran a records check. However, they turned up a $5,000 misdemeanor warrant that Bingham was already facing from a nearby agency.

His covert possession of a magnet to evade security systems was uncovered during the investigation.

In addition to his outstanding warrant, Bingham was cited for petty theft and possession of burglary tools upon his detention. He was granted a temporary release from detention only by promising to appear in court on a specified day.
