A ceremony is planned next month to celebrate the renovation of a pedestrian bridge in Hamburg Township.
The 104-foot Hay Creek Bridge, located on the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail, dates from the 19th century when it was built by the Ann Arbor Railroad.
Repairs began in March after panels to repair decking were delivered and a small detour went into place through a nearby subdivision. The work was completed in June.
This project was made possible by grants from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, along with matching funding from Hamburg Township.
A ribbon cutting will be held September 9th at 2:30 p.m. at the bridge, which is located just west of Chambers Road.
Light refreshments will be served, and RSVPs can be emailed to; Clerk@hamburg.mi.us
