NEW YORK (MJP) —
A man is under arrest after he allegedly used a knife to threaten a mother and her toddler in Queens last week, demanding that she give him the 2-year-old child, police said.
Just before 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, a 31-year-old woman was with her daughter in front of a laundromat at 108-15 Atlantic Ave. when she was approached by a man.
Peter Vonderhofen, 32, allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded that the mother give him her child. Police listed his address as around the corner from the laundromat.
The mother grabbed her toddler and ran off, and the suspect fled on a bike. No one was injured.
Vonderhofen is charged with attempted kidnapping, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
