An opportunity is set later this month for area middle & high school students to take a proctored SAT Practice Test offered by the Brighton Area Schools Alumni Association.
It will be held on Saturday, September 24th, from 9:45am to 1:30pm at the BHS Cafeteria.
Beth Walker, BAS Alumni Association Board Member, said that although some colleges do not require SAT or ACT entrance exams for admission, it is still strongly recommended that students prepare for these exams since many schools and colleges might still require a test score in order to be considered for scholarships or certain programs.
“One benefit for students participating in the BAS Alumni Association’s September 24th SAT practice test is that they will gain access (by taking our practice test) to free Kaplan Test Prep online strategy, additional practice tests, and special Kaplan instructor-led seminars for which students may register at no charge,” said Walker.
Keeping in mind the effect of good scores on college admission and scholarship offerings, Walker says they believe that the opportunity to become familiar with the testing environment and scoring rubric for the SAT test before official results are needed is very valuable.
This proctored SAT practice test is open to all middle and high school students from any school, e.g. private, public, home, charter, etc.
“We have had students come from Rochester Hills, Ann Arbor, Fenton, Fowlerville, Livonia, etc,” said Walker. “All are welcome!”
Each student taking the test has immediate test scoring available on his/her smartphone or computer. Students can also choose to score the test when they get home.
For all early registered students that may encounter a conflict and cannot attend the September 24th test, they are happy to send a copy of the test, instructions on how to complete and score it, plus information to access the Kaplan online test preparation information. This will be sent the week of September 26th.
