Pedestrian hit by car in Green Oak Township is identified, condition upgraded

A pedestrian hit by a car early Saturday has been identified as a 21-year old male from Northfield Township.

On Saturday, March 18, 2023, at approximately 1 a.m., Green Oak Township Police officers were dispatched to a car versus pedestrian crash near the intersection of Fieldcrest Drive and Carmel Court. Initial reports indicated a 16-year-old male was operating a blue 2018 Subaru Crosstrek going south on Fieldcrest when he encountered an unidentified male pedestrian in the roadway.

The pedestrian was struck in the roadway, causing severe, life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital by Livingston County Ambulance where he was originally listed in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Initially the identity of the pedestrian was not known and police asked for the community’s assistance. Now that he has been identified, police say they are not releasing his name to protect his privacy.

The driver of the Subaru stopped immediately and called 911; he is cooperating with police. Alcohol and/or drug use are not considered factors in this crash.
