New York — Prosecutors in New Jersey revealed Monday that they had indicted a man who, during an altercation at a pizzeria in the Flatiron District last month, brutally attacked a worker and his pit bull, leaving the victim with serious injuries.
The 35-year-old New Jersey man, Tyshaun Watson, was hit so hard by the 47-year-old pizza manager that he was charged with attempted murder and assault.
Allegedly, Tyshaun Watson nearly killed a pizzeria manager in a horrific attack, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “No worker should ever have to worry that they will be killed on the job.”
In court records, it is stated that Watson brought his dog to Roma Pizza on August 19 at approximately 9:45 p.m., placed an order for pizza, and took a seat in the adjacent back eating area. On two occasions, the manager supposedly told Watson that the restaurant did not permit his dog.
The manager took Watson’s pizza to go after he got into an argument with him at the front counter. The manager was tackled to the ground and continued to be struck by Watson, who authorities said became enraged and stepped behind the counter. Watson’s dog attacked the victim, adding to the attack.
Watson allegedly swiped at another employee who tried to step in, adding insult to injury.
Watson persisted in striking and yelling at the manager, even after he pivoted to face the counter while still on the ground. The manager got to his feet and bolted out of the restaurant, trying to shut Watson out.

Supposedly, Watson opened the door, choked the manager, tossed him to the floor, and then proceeded to pound him in the face as his dog attacked him. According to authorities, Watson proceeded to assault the unconscious manager by kicking him in the face, punching him in the stomach, and stomping on his face twice more on the concrete pavement.
Watson returned to the pizzeria following the incident and waited for the authorities to arrive before being detained while seated in the dining area with his dog.
Upon arrival at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, the injured party underwent treatment for various injuries, including face fractures, brain hemorrhage, severe bruising, and bite wounds from different dogs. About two weeks have passed since he was put into a medically induced coma.
